When you think of wool underwear, you think of something scratchy, in a place that you don't want scratched, at least not by some underwear. Why would you want a constant irritation against your skin all day?

You wouldn't. That is why there is something called Merino wool. Merino wool is the softest of all the wools. If you have ever touched a live sheep, you know that good quality wool is not scratchy at all. In fact, it is extremely soft and moisturizing. The product lanolin is harvested from wool to put into lotions and creams for softness.
